Carole Thomas is a south London based artist who loves to experiment with abstract processes and ideas that can come from anywhere or anything that appeals to a deeper sensitivity or connection to the world around us. She has worked on themes such as the city and its diversity, the discarded, redundant and forgotten, people in their many guises, personal experiences, emotions, memories and lots more. Using paint, collage and sometimes 3D work, she enjoys experimenting with materials and processes with an intuitive sense of play with colour, shapes, styles and textures.
Carole is a great believer in art being part of a shared experience for everyone to enjoy and participate in however they can. She has worked on a variety of community arts projects, has helped people with mental health issues to create art as part of their well-being and has helped curate community based exhibitions.
Education
Carole is partly self-taught but has also studied at London’s City Lit, Putney School of Art, Hampstead School of Art, the Mary Ward Centre and the Working Men’s College. She continues to build on her practice learning and experimenting with new techniques, ideas and formats.
